The detox diet that will make you glow!
Juice Fasting
"The best of all medicines is resting and fasting."
Benjamin Franklin
It will astound you... how very easy and effective juicing is.
The Power of Fasting!
We stop taking in solid foods, give the digestive tract a rest, and allow the body to eliminate toxins in the blood and tissues.
It should probably be called Liquid Raw Food Diet rather than a fast… since food intake is not stopped or even limited… just changed in consistency and quality.
Juicing is quite different from a water fast. Rather than deny yourself almost all forms of food and energy, a detox juice fast does not restrict the amount of juice you have in a day.
This fast can easily be incorporated into our lives.
There is no need for major scheduling or adjustments - other than getting a good juicer and/or blender.
You can make it a routine… as in once a week… or go on a juice fast for many days straight. It depends on your goals and needs.
As in Water Fasting, it is important to prepare for it.
Try to abstain from meat, dairy products and sugar for at least 3 days prior to starting the fast.
In general it would be good practice to minimize these foods all-together.
Juice Fasting Tips
In order to gain the most benefits out of juicing, use ONLY fresh produce.
You will need a good blender… and/or juicer - and plenty of leafy greens, fruits and veggies.
As in the Raw Food Diet – it is of critical importance to understand the relevance of balance in the natural world of flora and nutrition.
It is not recommended to just go ahead and drink any juice that comes to mind. Acidic juices (sweet fruit in general) may be difficult for your digestive system during a fast, causing you stomach aches or other discomfort.
Fruit (sugar) makes your blood acidic –

Leafy greens contain the needed alkaline promoting components for maximum nutritional benefits.
The juice fast should consist mostly of green leafy juices! – together with some fruits or vegetables. Fruits and vegetables can be used at 20-30% of the total intake – with 70-80% leafy greens!
Some argue that a juice fast is the most beneficial and effective way for body detoxification and health recovery and preservation.
Here are a few of the benefits:
Side effects will occur when the body accesses toxic deposits and flushes them out.
These are good side effects… and do not last for long because they signal that your body is clearing toxins stored in the cells.
How much should you drink?
As much as you feel you want and need. Just keep in mind that the percentage is right – stick to mostly leafy greens with some added fruit or vegetables for taste – it is virtually impossible to drink pure leafy green juice… because of the strong odor and taste.
Fresh juice is best
Don't use:
Bottled, canned, and "fresh" packaged juices are almost all treated (pasteurized) or added to (sugars, salts, flavorings, etc...) in one way or another.
